Structural Biology Hub Seminar: Samara Reck-Peterson, Weill Cornell Medicine
Join Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology and the Structural Biology Hub on Monday September 28, 2026 for our fall seminar featuring Dr. Samara "Sam" Reck-Peterson, Ph.D., Chair and Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Weill Cornell Medicine. The Reck-Peterson lab investigates the mechanisms and functions of intracellular transport. The questions asked are guided by genetic and evolutionary analysis, and bridge Ångstrom to cellular scales with experimental readouts from the biophysical to the organismal level. Current areas of focus include determining how the dynein microtubule motor works, the molecular basis of LRRK2- mediated Parkinson’s Disease, and the cellular function of membrane contact sites.

Structural Biology is undergoing a transformation. Breakthrough technologies, from AI-driven structure prediction like AlphaFold to cutting-edge cryo-EM and next-generation mass spectrometry, are rapidly changing how we study protein structure, interactions, and function. The Structural Biology Hub will bring together leading technologists and expert users to explore the latest advances and spark forward-looking discussions on the future of the field. We endeavor to connect researchers from across campus to encourage the sharing of ideas and technology and to facilitate collaborations.
